An apartment cleanout can stall even when the unit is ready. The missing detail is often outside the apartment: an elevator reservation, a certificate requested by management, a loading-zone limit, or a long carry from the unit.
Ask management five questions
- Is a move-out or service window required?
- Does the freight elevator need a reservation?
- Where may the truck or trailer legally load?
- Are wall, floor, or elevator protections required?
- Does the building ask vendors for insurance documentation?
Measure the problem pieces
Measure the item at its widest points, then the doorway, tight turns, elevator opening, and hallway. Note whether legs, doors, shelves, or a bed frame can be disassembled without damaging the property.
Build a route card

Do not stage items in shared paths
Keep corridors, stairs, fire doors, and exits clear. Move items only when the approved loading route is ready.
